Book Donation Policy
We truly appreciate book donations from our community. They help us build a vibrant
collection and raise funds to sustain the library. To ensure that our shelves remain
current, clean and helpful for readers of all ages and because our library has very
limited space, we evaluate all donated materials using the same standards.
First, we try to add donations to our lending library.
Typically those books are:
● In excellent condition (clean, no tears, no stains, no odors)
● Recently published nonfiction (generally within the last 5-10 years)
● Gently used fiction for adults, teens & children (typically published after 1999)
● Local history and Utah-focused materials
● New or like-new children's picture books
All other donations are either sold (in our used book sale), donated or responsibly
recycled. Your donations help strengthen the library and support literacy in Alpine.
Tax receipts can be provided upon request.
If you are donating more than 30 books or have questions about whether we will accept
your books or not, please email bethany@friendsofalpinelibrary.org.
Thank you for thinking of us!
